WHEN ILLUSIONS FADE

In this series, Ekman explores moments when something becomes visible or only just noticeable. When the illusion erupts, the game stops and the children, like us, suddenly wake up. Passive and confused about the game/life and where it has led us.

Frozen in the dubious moment when we realize that the road ahead does not go back through the dream world.

Ekman investigates feelings of being lost, in the inner and outer world. Loss of compass, loss of someone dear, loss of childhood, loss of the world as one thought it would be, the loss of the illusions we surround ourselves with, the loss of a moment.

Ekman is deeply interested in the contrast of a seemingly joyful event harbouring such sorrow, confusion, realisation and “lostness”.
